Thunderbird overclocked questions

Postby Spartanic » Mon Jun 17, 2002 2:53 pm

I just bought an overclocked AMD Athlon thunderbird CPU that ran 1.2Ghz but now runs at 1.5Ghz and I also got a Asus A7V266-E motherboard. What kind of adjustments will I need to make on the motherboard to insure everything runs stable? :?

Make sure the CPU is being cooled properly, this is VERY important, as I'm sure you already knew.

Make sure that your FSB isn't overclocked by anything other than the multiplier. (some motherboards allow you to adjust the FSB) Boosting the FSB can give higher clock speeds from the CPU but often cause desynchronisation problems between the AGP and PCI buses, which would cause random reboots, and that's if the system boots at all.

Just make sure it's properly cooled and you won't have much of a problem.
