Problem with starting NIS2005 in Safe Mode

Postby Ninto » Tue Jan 04, 2005 2:03 pm

NIS2005 recently detected and automatically deleted a trojan yesterday, but I wanted to double check it's gone by running the anti virus in safe mode, the problem is that it won't load up. The trojan it found was called Trojan.ByteVerify which I don't think interfers with Norton. Is that fact that NIS2005 auto deleted the trojan enough to confirm that this thing is off my system? I'm really paranoid about these things.

I have been programming on computers since the ZX81.
I am an apprentice trained Electronics Engineer with qualifications to back it up.
I have been repairing computers since 1996.
Yet to some people I still know nothing...

Yes, I know about that. I just can't get Norton to run in safe mode. Anyone know what the problem is, or has experienced the same thing happen?

Norton really gets to involved in the whole system, if the system has an issue so does norton or vice versa.

There are plenty of online scans that may help you what you are asking, symantecs own online scan, trends housecall etc..

You may just want to reinstall norton if it wont run, update it again, but many things attack norton directly because its such a big name thats why an online scan is a good idea, also are previous suggestions of adaware or spybot..
