Searches the drive for the files or folders that belong to known security and/or Symantec products.
If a file is found, a copy of the worm will overwrite it.
If a folder is found, a copy of the worm will overwrite all the files with the .exe extension in any subfolder.

The worm will overwrite the .exe files in the following folders, including the subfolders:
C:\Program Files\Symantec
C:\Program Files\Norton AntiVirus

NOTE: The worm is not limited to the above folders, and may overwrite the files in other locations.
Some games are killed (NHL2004) and even wireless network card utilities (Sitecom WLAN adapter).

This one is a real PITA because of the damage it does.
We hate rut, but we fear change.

Some additions to the original post:

Cool WWW Search tool called CWShredder
http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/cwschronicles.html

More than just a useful program, the forums here help kill all the varients of CWS out there. CWS is by far the worst and most propigated spyware I know of.

Great free personal firewall
http://smb.sygate.com/products/spf_standard.htm

A large robust spyware tool (pay) -- Only needed for the most paranoid. No spyware program is perfect (read: complete) yet, so running multiple programs is the only way to get rid of everything.

I believe you meant Ad-Aware and not Adware as Ad-Aware is working/fighting against Adware and other stuff .
Ad-Aware SE is available and reached at least Version 1.03 .
Signature support for the older Ad-Aware 6.181 may cease to exist in the future so better upgrade to the new version .
Do not forget to use Ad-Aware with Spybot as Tandem-Software - two fighters together are better than only one of them

I'd say Kerio/Sygate for Firewall

Antivir Personal is good as well as some other free scanner like from Avast - maybe Kapersky has a free version, too but I don't know
