Post subject:  Searchlock - malware...?

Hi all -

In the last little while, a sub-search bar called "Seachlock" has appeared at times during searches from my computer, both using Chrome and Firefox. A Google search has provided results suggesting that this is a type of malware/adware... but all the results I found seem "amateur", and I didn't actually find anything at the Norton site. I certainly didn't knowingly add or enable this program or browser extension.

My questions:
1) Is this malware/adware? (my feeling is "yes")
2) What is the best way to remove it completely?

I tried using Add/Remove under Windows 10, but it doesn't appear. A Norton scan doesn't identify this. Spyware Search & Destroy also did not appear to remove this. I read online that it can be disabled under "extensions" for the various browsers, but I also read that it makes registry changes, so I really would like to expunge this from my computer completely.

Any thoughts/ideas regarding the above would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers,

Carl

(Note: I did do a search at the forums, but couldn't find any posts on this topic...)

Hi,

This is a reputable website, they have a page with instructions for removal. You can use the free versions of the software they recommend downloading, you do not need the paid versions, after usage you can uninstall both without any issues if that makes you feel better.
