There are scammers in almost every form, and social media is very popular.
Facebook (and other sites) have had some recent activity in the form of Emails that look authentic.
Hover over the 'from' part of the message, if anything other than the true site URL is there, DO NOT OPEN IT.
Go straight to your account at the real site, for an authentic message. You might be safe to view the raw data form of the fake Email. But safer to just bin it to the 'round file'.
