Win XP and Vista browsers.. End of Support.

Post by Karlsweldt »

Got a sad bit of info yesterday. The last version of Firefox will have no future updates for Win XP and Vista.
"Firefox version 52.9.0esr was the last scheduled release for Windows XP and Windows Vista. No further security updates will be provided after August 2018".

Did some searching about, and perhaps an alternative will honor Win XP and Vista a while longer. Otherwise, upgrade to Win 7 or newer.. and spend thousands of dollars more to replace other programming that is not compatible. A dual-boot setup may work, but the DLL library and other associate files may not work as well.
What was found as to alternate browsers: Chromium, Maxthon, Opera, Slimjet.

Vista is 11 years old
XP is 17 years old

I am battling with a few applications that are not (yet) compatible with Windows 10 in an Enterprise environment.

Migrating TO windows 7 does not seem to be the wisest option. Either you go to Windows 10 or if you don't like that, take a REALLY big broom through your application landscape and go the Linux route.
We hate rut, but we fear change.
