Conficker Due April 1st, 2009?

Lots of talk about this viral worm coming into action on April 1st 2009. May be true, may be just rumor (April Fool?). But be prepared. Ensure your anti-virus is updated to handle this threat, and also go to the MS site for the Malicious Software Removal Tool known as KB890830.. which should be part of your automatic updates for security. http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=890830
You can manually DL it and run it to scan your entire system.

Ok? It is now April 1st. Where is it?

It was all the rage on every media station from radio to TV to whatever else but, since I got up this morning, I have not seen anything mentioned about it. So was it an April fools' joke, or what?

Has anyone had any problems yet?

I updated everything last night with Windows Live OneCare, just to be safe and downloaded and installed the Windows update that was supposed to directly combat Conficker. I hope it helped.....if it was worth combatting in the first place.

Looks like they managed to annoy the anti-virus 'police' enough to get blocked from some key servers (to activate the virus):

Computer nightmare or April Fool's joke?

Some recent (March 19, 2009) info on this sleazy worm. The threat may be real, or severely hyped up. But taking a chance on it being a false alarm is asking for trouble. Yes, most ISP services effected a block on the known IP addresses the worm may use to "call home". But is there a time limit on that call?
