I'm going to need to get a suit for when I stop being lazy and actually go get a job. Had a few questions:

-Where would you guys recommend I get one?
-I'm most likely going to need to get it tailored? (I'm 5'7 with wider shoulders, so NOTHING fits right, ever)
-What should I expect to spend? I know it's a broad question, but I want to know what I should be looking to spend for a decent suit. Not a cheap one, but also not expensive.
-As far as the shirt goes, I'm going to need that custom made probably (made to fit), because normally the ones in the stores don't fit me as good as they should.
-What should I actually look for in a "good suit"?

That's all I can think of for now.

First, look for a tailor that does alterations. Perhaps he could recommend a quality shop for a suit.. or redo an older suit. Some stores may offer a "two for one" deal. Maybe there is a Joseph A. Banks clothier near you?
You could also order a suit on-line from a known-quality outlet, with the measurements taken by a local tailor.

For warmer climes, go with light-weight materials, so you don't get "hot under the collar" (pun!! )!!
For cooler climes, yes a heavier-weight material.
Then the most critical.. what style of suit is now in vogue?
And what design would best suit the genre of employment you seek?

S&K Menswear has a nice selection of suits, shirts, ties, shoes etc. The sales staff is helpful, but not pushy.

They often have various deals going.
IE: two for one, buy one get the second 1/2 price, buy two get one free

But I strongly suggest selecting the best fitting suit you can find first. Then take it to a tailor for a custom fit. There in-house tailor stinks.

Another place for more affordable suits would be Burlington Coat Factory.
The selection is modest, but you can find what you need. You will need to
mix & match to get the right look. But sometimes they have a few suits
already matched.

Good luck in your search.
