Turn SLI off?

Postby phoenixn » Wed Nov 02, 2005 7:55 am

I just built my ASUS A8N-SLI mobo with the eVGA 6600GT video card. Since I found a "steal of a deal" on the 6600GT, I bought two of them basically for the price of one, and I have them running in SLI mode.

Problem: Some older apps and games cause the system to reboot if I have the cards turned on in SLI mode. Is this a common problem? It's no big deal really, because it's easy enough to uncheck SLI before I run the "problem" apps.

Another way I'm thinking is that I could log on as a different user for apps/games that benefit from SLI. This would be preferable, because when I switch SLI on/off, it messes up my desktop icon arrangement.

Mainly I'm just wondering if others have encountered this issue. If it's not uncommon or unexpected, then I'll just do a work-around and not worry about it.

Thanks :)
