Silver thermal compound question

Postby Smurfcorpse » Mon Oct 10, 2005 5:59 pm

I'll start by saying that I know artic silver is the probably the best product out there. I didn't use it because my son already had a tube of something else.
I put a new CPU in around May. I have had some problems with folding so I decided to pull of the heatsink to see if I had gotten any silver where it did not belong. The amount looked ok but what concerened me was how dry it was. Is that normal for just 5 months? It kind of crumbled off the heatsink.
Is this crappy thermal compound? It is Dynex brand sold at Best Buy. I could not find any specs for it on the web. Is anyone else using it?
