This concerns my Windows 10 Pro 64bit laptop.

Went to copy a folder to a back up drive and a pop-up came up saying file MSENV2UI may be write protected and can't be copied. Did some research on this file and see that it looks like a Development Environment International Resource. I looked in the Task Manager and don't see it listed ? I looked in msconfig and its not there? Do I need this file? Where is it located? If I need it and its missing can I get it back? How do I find what file is causing this?

I have backed up this folder in the past and have never seen it before. Need some help with this.

Thanks all

Thanks for the link.

I got this (file protected) popup when trying to copy a folder that contains a bunch of individual sub folders and files to a backup drive that may not be windows 10 compatible, I don't know. I don't think this file is missing on the main windows 10 64 bit computer, it just won't let copy it to another drive, its protected it says. How can I tell if this file in question is in fact still installed on my main computer and just where is it located and what exact file is it associated with?

There is no problem copying this entire folder to another location on the same computer it is originally on. I just can't move this one protected file off this computer onto another storage drive.

Thanks....

i found the problem....

I had a few files that were from my Apple Ipad on my Windows PC. These files did not have the correct permission which caused the issue.

Ok and you solved that by taking ownership of them and repairing the permissions afterwards?

I didn't think my W10 laptop was missing the file in question because I have never had a software issue with this PC since I had it. It just showed up when I went to move a folder off it to a back up external drive.

I have a folder that has probably 50 sub folders in it. Not knowing what folder or file was causing it I decided to go through each folder to see if I could move it.
When I got to my Apple folder that had a few iPad created files stored it would not allow me to move it. I opened the property page of this folder and looked over the various tabs and noticed something that didn't look right to me that had to do with permissions, I checked one of the boxes and closed off it. I then tried to move it off the PC and it went. I then moved the entire huge folder off to the external drive with no issues, so apparently that was the culprit.
