I have a DQ35JO motherboard. i just updated the RAM from 2 sticks (4gb total) to 4 sticks (4gb total). All 4 slots are now occupied
I ran Speccy to see if the system recognizes the additional memory and it is showing
Physical Memory
Memory Usage 33 %
Total Physical 3.24 GB
Available Physical 2.15 GB
Total Virtual 5.08 GB
Available Virtual 4.16 GB

Does this seem correct?
I was expecting to see total physical = 8gb
Should I have changed a dip switch or something?

Take a look at the options detailed there and see if something sticks out to you.

XP is limited due to it being only 32bit - you'll need a 64bit OS in order to utilize more than 3.25gb of memory. :(

There's workarounds - but, it involves using other software to allow it. I've never done it, and don't know anyone who has so your experience may or may not be exactly good. Some options are things like RamDisk to use the extra memory for storage/pagefile usage. Other methods are not legal due to breaking the licensing/editing the kernel.
