I recently built a new PC and installed windows 7 on it, then installed the drivers (only the audio drivers failed to install)
copied all of my personal files over from the old PC using a migration file.

I followed up with the usual windows update process.... 148 updates ALL but a hand full failed during the reboot "Failure configuring Windows updates Reverting changes" phase... ;_; :(

I can thankfully get back into windows after it finishes reverting all the changes...

I'm at a lose

May be a feature or hardware problem. Try the "Windows Compatibility" test..
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download ... aspx?id=20
The Windows update site should have a compatible audio driver.. check the "other updates" list. But the driver disk with the mobo should have all needed and proper drivers.

I tried the most up to date drivers from the ASUS website to no avail.... the drivers had a folder for vista64 but not win7 even though they said they were compatible.
its ok the MS default HD audio drivers work and I have sound.

here is my CPUz report for my new PC:
http://valid.x86.fr/ssns8i

audio drivers aside I looking for help on the failing windows updates ;_; :(

Trusted Installer has only two permissions:
- List folder contents
- special permission

A driver file must have a digital signature matching the WHQL list for the OS version to be acceptable. If not as required, may be rejected. Some older driver files may be fully compatible to newer OS needs, but if that signature is not as expected, no-go.
If 'special permissions' are needed for installs/updates, then log on as Administrator.

May be a minor glitch in the update relation. Off-course check, but ensure the AHCI feature is enabled if using SATA drives.
If no RAID setup, set preference for 'auto' or 'JBOD'.
For any updates on my Win 7 system running F@H, they are automatically downloaded, but I choose when they install.. normally at shut-down time!

The BIOS initially sets all IRQ and DMA feature assignments per the BIOS pages. Then the OS may reconfigure some assignments. Check the BIOS pages for "PnP" capable OS control line. Ensure it is enabled.
For memory timings, use the "SPD" setting.
