I remember reading here a long time ago about technicians having a certified Microsoft rating, if that is correct what would the exact title be called.

Just like with aircraft maintenance, auto repair, or a plumber or electrician or other.. trained and certified in that field, and may be licensed to ply that trade responsibly and professionally. And may be insured or bonded.

there are multiple Microsoft certification designations - it just depends on what area you're certified in...

do you have anything specific in-mind?

you can see microsofts full list of examinations(leading toward certifications) here:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/learning/exam-list.aspx

Each exam will have the certification it is a part of listed on the detail page(i.e. "Credit toward certification: MCP, MCSD").

you should be able to possibly check which specific topical exams you would be interested in, and from there be able to identify the overreaching certification it is a part of...
