Floppy Drive "not ready"?

Postby charlesp123 » Thu Nov 14, 2002 12:24 pm

Built a new computer..... everything works fine but the floppy drive(3.5) light stays on and cant read any disks.

When I insert a floppy and click on A: drive, I get a 'Drive not ready' message.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Try pulling the ribbon cable out of the back and flipping it over and plugging it back in. You might have it plugged in wrong.

The end with the twist in the cable goes to floppy, the straight end to the motherboard.

If the light on the floppy stays on but nothing happens, you got the ribbon on backwards.
