I am running Win2K on an ASUS P4B266-c with normal clocked P4 1.6A. This machine has run stably for 6 months with just one problem. It fails the dxdiag test for 3d routines. The "spinning cube" appears for half a second, than gets hit with a few very quick color bars and screen goes blank for several seconds. It also fails the full screen directdraw bouncing box test.

Is this a known issue with this motherboard?

Running a fresh Win2K SP3 (also SP2 in past), newest DirectX 8.1; graphic cards have tried ATI Radeon VE and Radeon 7200 with newest 6166 as well as older drivers. Both graphics cards have been tested and pass all tests in other machines with same OS & drivers. Have run with and w/o sound card installed, no change.

256MB Crucial DDR, Antec case/ps, WD 7200 rpm 60 Gb drive

Thanks for any help, John

Goto the MadOnion site for 3DMark2001se and look for a directX applet called (surprisingly) dxapplet. This should solve the problem. If yo cannot find it PM me with your e-mail and I'll send it to you (you'll need a Zip program ie Winrar 2.9).
