Had to replace a failing DVD reader in my primary system.. decided to scan the caps. Found another bad one by the back of the AGP slot.. Ost brand! 6.3v 1000 mfd. Replaced it with a new ESR 10v. 1000 mfd one.
I know, time to replace an older mobo style.. but then will have to go with a new OS version too. Will run XP until its end of acceptance.

VICTIM: Tripplite OMNIVS500U UPS
Symptom: UPS goes Off under charge

Case Opened:
Prime suspect: Gemcon 25V 470mF Capacitor
Oders: A couple of loose resistors (soldered vertically to the PCB, is it my idea or resistors in vertical allways get loose)

Procedure: two resistors resoldered and capacitor replaced by a Taicon 25V 470mF one

Result: Problem solved

Veredict: Gemcon 25V 470mF Capacitor GUILTY!!!!!!

You can re-open that UPS in a few months. Taicon is a known bad brand. Put in Nichicon, Chemicon or Rubycon...
