PSU's can go bad at any time. Especially if you have a power surge - even surge protectors may not protect it.
I have been programming on computers since the ZX81.
I am an apprentice trained Electronics Engineer with qualifications to back it up.
I have been repairing computers since 1996.
Yet to some people I still know nothing...

Definitely! 99% of those so-called "surge protectors" have nothing more than a .05 MFD 250 volt capacitor as the safety feature.
Quality units costing more than $40.00 USD will have a better design and be more reliable.

Some success, at least back in operation. But a hassle.
The OS will not install if older or identical files are found from a previous install. Attributes mark them as "hidden", "read only" or "system" files, which cannot be erased or written over unless those attributes are removed.
