A Recent Patch 4 Win98SE...

Postby netaces2k » Sun Apr 24, 2005 3:36 am

A recently released patch for Windows 98SE has caused a unique problem. A 'QuickLibrary' for the MS-DOS environment has been affected by the way the routine is allowed to access the TIME/DATE values from the OS.

This is causing programs that normally work fine to crash and the development environment (QBX.EXE) to receive a 'Division By Zero' error. It says the error code is: BA in ERL: 0.

There was another patch a couple of years back that created a problem with the DOS environment and programming. I think it had something to do with the UNICODE naming and such, but it made command line parameter pickup and filename access get messed up.

Microsoft is NOT being careful when they are patching things.
If they plan to do these patches, they should be releasing patches for the other programs that will be affected by it.
