question on drivers

erm iv never been to this part of motherboards before so soryy if any mistakes..................

erm can any of you make drivers?, or tweak old ones to work with xp?

i got an old external cdrw, and the only latest driver i can find is 98 (mayb me)

can any of you change that to xp?

the cdrw model is freecom cd-rw recorder 4424
to build or not to build,
that is the question?

if you go to http://www.driverguide.com (you will need to sign up for an account). You can search by company. I was just on there and found a driver for your cdrw that has been tested on win 98, win98se, winnt. There are also a lot of Beta version drivers on there that you can try as well.

Anytime I need a driver they always have it.

yea i have signed up to em and already searched but can only find 98, winnt versions like you said.

beta version? you me for xp? if so can you give me link?

Or go to http://www.freecom.com in the support section you can download drivers. The only XP driver I saw there was for a USB connection. But you can try other drivers as well. Just because it doesn't say WinXP on it doesn't mean it won't work.

Have you tried the XP startup disk? Which has a generic cdrom driver.

Burners or cdrw, uses simple drivers for cdrom functions. Then you need a burner software for writing to cdr or cdrw media.

Free burner software are available such as magiciso. But you might have to buy a burner software after some trial.

yo mean try the xp installation cd when it says where to look for the drivers?
