Networking Power Problems

Postby Ad Harwood » Sat Aug 28, 2004 1:30 pm

Ive put 2 Computers into a direct network - no hub or anything - just a cable. Problem is whenever I power down on my one computer my other one starts up again. This does not happen the other way around though!!!
It may be because i am using an ICS connection - i dont know.

Are you using a built in LAN plug or is it a PCI card. Also are you using WOL.

On both ends? Because it certainly sounds like WOL issue. If one of the NICs is O/B and WOL is not disabled in BIOS, it would explain the issue showing one way around but not the other.
Even if they ar both PCI, actually, but then it would be configured in NIC BIOS, not PC one.
