My internet Speakeasy speed test result was 122 Mbps Down & 119 Mbps Up. I was reading that ones internet speed is really only half of what it says it is because its split between two channels ???? Is that correct......

I don't think I've ever heard that before...

Perhaps they are talking about advertised vs. actual expectations?

122/119 was your actual speed when you ran that test - if you run it again it could 90/50...really it just comes down to what your advertised numbers are (I'm assuming/hoping yours is 120/120, in which case your numbers are excellent).

I've seen a lot of advertised numbers like 30/5 or 50/20 come out to 12/2 or 20/8 respectively.

Couldn't even tell you mine anymore, I've forgotten entirely what I even have now...and I haven't run a speedtest in ages (no concerns).

Nah, that is from long time ago for telephone lines and dialup. Those things do not apply when using xDSL/cable/fiber.

That does jog a memory of my friends house (who's father was an at-home IT consultant, with all the best toys of the day) which had state-of-the-art ISDN line..."rated speed" was double what the actual download was. granted, it was still well over twice as fast as my home 56k connection...so we downloaded everything we could from there.
