I generally stress-test with a program called stresscpu that I read about at the folding-community.org forums. It's a modified version of the [email protected] Gromacs core that doesn't do any real work (therefore, no problems with incomplete WUs if the system crashes), and it loads the CPU as high or higher than [email protected] does.

heh - we already did that to poland
