Hey,

albatron rig specs:

albatron KX400-8X
Athlon XP2000
128Mb PC2100
gainward TNT2M64 32M gfx
20G quantum fireball ATA66
Qmax 350W psu

only difference is one is running 98se and the other is 2K pro.

yes, what are flags and no. do the WU's make that much difference? one is a 400(abit) the other is a 500(albatron).

Yes the work unit's make a large difference. The only way to really compare is use the same work unit on both machines. I'm sure the 2600 will turn out to be faster.

the abit is chewing on a tinker WU, the albatron plowing through a gromacs WU. The gromacs core makes use of SSE, the tinker does not.

also, not all work units will be the same. I've had a tinker that went faster than this grommacks that i'm doing now...

well, albatron finished first and way ahead of the abit. lol but as you were saying, prolly the wu itself rather than the machine. 1 down, many many more to go

Nice! Well - it took so long, because of a MASSIVE work unit (and nicely pointy too)

reference the current running projects list to see what you have running:
http://folding.stanford.edu/psummary.html

my machines take about 2 days to do the 71 pt tinker wu's. nothing over athlon xp 2200+, which includes an athlon xp 1800+ at 2200+ (159mhz fsb- been dropped to 153mhz fsb for now though.). perhaps it's time to start tweaking the bios, and OS?
