Suggestions?

Postby DAVE1 » Sun Mar 23, 2008 3:31 pm

It seems that we are getting a lot of points, probably now more than ever. However we have the amount of users diminishing. I've been busy, and my main folder died a month or two ago, so I haven't been much help lately.

Any suggestions to help rejuvenate our team?

Recruiting worked a while back, anyone up for it?
Signatures?
Milestone postings?

Anything?

The driving forces that did the early recruitment are all long gone. Sadly, most of the original team members have also vanished from the board or fold only from time to time. I was member #80 and I doubt that more than 3 or 4 are still folding from those days.

As far as PM's go then yes, they do work, that's how I got involved :) , but its a fairly thankless task, definitely not something that I'd take on. Can't really suggest anything that would help at the moment.

I would consider doing the Milestones again but only in a rotation with a few others and for about a month at a time.

Perhaps each member should post their own 'milestones' as appropriate.. each 10,000 points upward or so. NOT for each gain of say 200 or so points!

Incentives to join the F@H teams are low.. mainly due to morale problems concerning high energy costs. Many people are in a "survival" state!
At this time of year especially, a lot of people are very concerned about income tax filings.. and getting whatever refunds are possible.

More public awareness about the results of the F@H processes and discoveries should entice more people to become involved with the effort.
F@H.. to solve mankind's maladies.. in our lifetimes!

My opinion may prove unpopular, but it's an opinion nonetheless.

I think the way milestone postings are given out like confetti is silly. Posting every so-called milestone just diminishes the value of the higher ones. I think posting 10,000, 50,000, 100,000, 500,000 and 1,000,000 then every 500,000 thereafter is far more sensible.

Also, recently some people have decided to devote whole threads to individual folders for their superior efforts. We're meant to be a team and it would not surprise me if this practice alone has deterred and put-off people, because it's just wrong. Don't misunderstand, I'm not talking about individuals hitting large milestones i.e. 1,000,000, as I've said, I am in favour of this, but just because someone has a large powerhouse folding and is gaining more PPD than other members, it doesn't warrant unfair attention, it's like "my dick is bigger than your dick", it's just childish.

Yes, makes sense.

How about along with our titles and the number of chips below our name, we can add something for folding as well? Just a thought and I know that the mods will have to do some tweaking but it might help.

Do you mean for where it says "brown belt" under your user name?

yep...instead of just brown belt maybe like a title of 1.5k folder or something along those lines. I'm sure pette would like a 6k folder title. Not sure how the mods can mange the stats for it. Maybe make it where after someone hits a milestone or post in a certain range for awhile they just ask a mod for the title.

Also kindof off subject bu the folding page needs major updating. I think this was a long time ago "08-17 - Pette_Broad - 2,730,000".

That would be kind of cool, but I have no power over the things under your user name or the web page its self. I am just a servant.
