"Warp" F@H processing?

Postby Karlsweldt » Mon Mar 10, 2008 6:42 am

Have noted of late, since I upgraded my CPU in the 'folding' rig, that the WUs come through much faster than before.. but with only a slight increase in the CPU lineage.
For instance, I recently had the P-3434 protein, listed for 9+ days minimal submission, work through in just over 16 hours! So, no big point value.. but several of those submitted in the same time-frame as a higher point-valued WU is no cause to argue!

The previous CPU was a Northwood 2.8/800 with HT, the present CPU is a Prescott 2.8/800 with HT. But notably, the L2 cache is doubled.. from 512 Kb to 1 Mb!

No wonder I am jealous (?) of those with quad-core CPU systems! :-|
F@H.. to solve mankind's maladies.. in our lifetimes!
