I know no one here wrote this program but I have a question that someone may have an idea of the answer. Do any of you know how long it might be between beta and final? The version I'm using has some pretty major issues after using it for several days non stop. I don't want to exchange my known set of problems for a new set of issues that may or may not cause issues with other software.

I'd rather just wait for the final version or for the beta to get more refined before I upgrade. VERY much looking forward though.

THANKS for the update post Pete!

Myth, I've only been running this for about 10 hours and it has cleared up all of the problems I had with it.

#1 Now reports P3906/7 correctly.
#2 Doesn't crash randomly, at least not yet :) . Previous version crashed 5 or 6 times a day (at least) .This one has a 100% crash free record.
#3 Too early to say yet, but I've had a couple of machines that have had their locations changed. So instead of the location being c:\Folding@home, its become "Pette_Broad (33258) or "O.K" or on one occasion entirely blank. I guess this is caused by corruption within the data file when it crashes.

The final version should be out very soon. Just leave the autoupdate feature enabled.

I've also found that it has major issues with work units that are not in the database. Catastrophic actually as it crashes on loading. I've informed the guy who looks after FahMon.

Pete

EDIT, Someone else had already reported this issue and it has been fixed. No word on when the final version or even a fixed beta will be ready though.

EM3 is certainly the most reliable monitor and has the widest range of options too. It won't monitor SMP or GPU work units and it has issues with some of the newer units like those using the DGromacs 2 core. However, it still works well with most units, you just need to edit the protiens file now and then. Unfortunately, it looks like the author has lost interest in it, though with a bit of luck someone else may take it over in the future.
