Playing PC Games in Linux?

Post by BIGMAN131307 »

Are there any good PC games playable in Linux?

I'm talking about games like MAFIA & MAFIA II, Hitman (series), BATMAN (series), etc.

How do they install & run?

Try steam, or steam OS.. I have played HL, HL2, Metro, Unreal on Steam, through either Ubuntu or more recently on SteamOS. All worked very well, my mate is using Left4Dead2 as a Demo in the shop window for SteamOS...
I have been programming on computers since the ZX81.
I am an apprentice trained Electronics Engineer with qualifications to back it up.
I have been repairing computers since 1996.
Yet to some people I still know nothing...

Does that run like a steam game? IE: Start the game, steam login screen pops up, login then game finally loads.
:(

Anything else out there? A program that can run Windows Compatible games in Linux? A list of Windows Compatible games that can run in Linux?

I'm playing WoW at Linux, just run it via Wine (Windows compatibility layer) https://www.winehq.org/

I am a purchaser of Crossover Pro from CodeWeavers, and I have found that some Windows games work better with PlayOnLinux than Crossover. I don't mind, since Crossover sales help fund Wine development, which makes it money well spent IMHO. PlayOnLinux, of course, is free.
