Older but still fun game

Postby Porphyria » Thu Nov 21, 2002 7:30 pm

I'm in constant pursuit of fun games that can be played on my outdated Matrox G200. Anybody have any ideas? I want something that is fairly fun but I find that most of the newer games my computer can't run.

Star Control and Star Control 2. Star Control 2 will keep you busy for months. Forget any later version of the game...

Star Control 3 sucks. I have it and it's no good, story isn't nearly as good as Star Con 2.

You may want to check Decent:Freespace. That was an awesome space fighting sim. Should run pretty well on your system, it ran fine on my old P233MMX with 96MB RAM and 2MB ATI RageII (on-board). The game is very good, great story line, multiple stories depending on how you play missions. although that multiple storyline is better in the 2nd game since it's more obvious, but Freespace 2 needs a good 3d accelerator.

Ever thought of trying to find a Voodoo 2000 for your pc?? It could probably help you play some more recent games. ???

Well I have been looking for a Radeon 7500 PCI, but I'm very frugal and probably won't get one until prices drop, or there is some amazing deal. My machine has no AGP slot, so unfortunately I can't drop in a Geforce 2 or equivalent. The only deal I have seen was an MX420 PCI for around 55 dollars... not too hot considering that the Radeon is 20 dollars more and has substantially better performance. How much is a Voodoo 2000? How does it compare with the Radeon?

My voodoo 5 55000 pci isn't quite as good as my GF4MX420 PCI.
Even though the TI series and the 8500 and 900 ATI are better, the MX420 is a very good card for it's price. Bottom line if you want a really good card you are going to have to pay more than both the ATI 7500 and the MX420!

I thought that Radeon 7500 was the fastest PCI card that has been made...
