Gamers Choice.. "Lefty" or "Righty"?

How many times in a game have you known you could make a kill around a corner, without exposing yourself to being fired at? How many games are for the right-handed player only, and no left-handed mode?

Turns out that the older Quake 2 series has a set for right-/left-handed play!
Look at the [config.cfg] file.. at the bottom. Note that {set hand "0"} notation!
Had become annoyed with that "computer update" drone whenever a restart is done.. looked for a "kill" on that feature, or just to silence it. Still no luck.
But.. discovered this hand-switch process.

Note I have set the "A-S-D" movement features, and reassigned other features. Much easier game play. For those "F" key bindings, note the lines I have in bold type. You can easily switch between a right-hand action and a left-hand action, with ease of making those otherwise impossible shots.
Left the original {set hand "0"} as a default setting.
The same similar settings are in the Xatrix and regular Quake 2 configuration file. But be warned.. each file is dedicated to its platform. Simply copying one file to the other platforms will cause instability! The header at the top of the file notes "// generated by quake, do not modify" as a warning.
If unsure that your changes will work, back up the file for an easy restore.
This mod may work with other games as well. May not be the same commands.
Very fluid frame rates on a P III 600 with Win 98. Old games are the best!!
Oh, yes.. if you wonder where that 'missing kill' is when exiting the sewers to the hangar, it is on the left from the vent you exited.. in the "wall". You have to blast the wall for that hideous "leaper" to come out! Nice "Q" damage find in there, also.

Too bad that EA Games considers a mouse inversion a CHEAT with BF1942! Do we have to play it standing on our heads? Or literally turn the mouse over? PDT_Armataz_01_02

Ah good old Quake 2...learned to use the mouse keyboard combo on that game.....

Your right though Q2 did have this option...from the console command you could make quite a few alterations....I used to alter the FOV in multiplyer to give me a slight advantage being able to see that littlre bit more than the competition...mind you most of the good competition used that fix too :lol:

For every game with lefty controls there's 10 more without. Its kinda disturbing. Also, any games on the Wii need left handed input created slightly different than right handed if the game doesn't have an internal configuration (haven't seen one yet) so Wii lefties have a double whammy :(
