I sent a gift copy to sabrewings for episode 1. Perhaps he'll let us know what he got.

I play it all the time (probably too much). Its confusing at first since there is no manual, but you'll catch on.

Just picked it up this morning. I have already gotten past Portal... fantastic game... felt more like a tech demo in teh begining... the change in the middle was nice.

tried TF2. Not bad... I am using a trackball so my aim is not very good. I was getting owned like a little B!TCH. Fun though.

I have yet to play Ep 2. Maybe I'll start it tomorrow.

Excellent value at $40.00

A related question:

I have purchased and downloaded Episode Two only from Steam because I already have HL2 and Episode One (and my rural sattelite broadband is not functional for most online gaming). Episode Two is available from Steam as part of the larger Orange Box Combo or separately only as a download.

I now realise that---although the functioning game is now installed on my computer and tied to my Steam account----an installable .exe file or some other such file was not downloaded as a part of that process. Most other downloadable software has this content.

Were I to have purchased a typical, CD installable game, as most commercial games are marketed, I would have a hard, physical version for later install in the case of computer failure or computer rebuild.

Does anyone know if it possible(or legal) to burn a cd at home of the Episode Two folder or some other such file combination so that I would have a re-installation tool for this game? Or is there a reinstallation service from Steam?

Thanks :D

Reinstallation tool for when you need to install it on a computer that does not have it? If thats the case, it would just load up the same way it did the first time I would think. Once you log onto your Steam account, it will search for the games you have, and the games you have purchased. If you don't have one installed, it will install it.

As far as the burning thing goes, I would ASSUME that it is legal to do that. The same way it it is legal to backup your DVD's at home. It is illegal to sell or give away that burnt copy though.

I just installed Team Fortress 2 this evening and the highest resolution available in the video options section is like 1280x1024. Not good since I'm using a 22" and an 8800GTX!

anyone else have this problem?

yeah, try changing your aperture ratio just below where you select your resolution.

this will open up other resolutions for you.
