SATA?

Postby kingdomwinds » Wed Dec 01, 2004 4:00 pm

Im not interested in the raptor drives but what do that regular SATA drives have to offer over ATA? They seem to be the same speed. If i get SATA, im just getting 1 drive. Is it worth it though?

That's it, simpler connections and no jumpers.

Depends on what board you have. Some chipsets such as Intel's don't. I did need it for my K8T800 pro chipset, but that also might be because I had the RAID BIOS feature turned on in the BIOS. Some boards like the NF7-S will require a floppy to set up an OS for it.

i ordered an AV8. I guess ill just go with ATA. My case already has good airflow so i dont think the special SATA cables will help.

Why not borrow a floppy from another computer? I can check to see if I can install w/ the BIOS disabled and get back with you too on that.
