Lets put it this way. There is no DISADVANTAGE to PCI-E so why not get it and have a motherboard you can upgrade for the future.

I agree 100%

Well the price is a big minus.... new tech always means big bucks.

I am salivating over Nvidia's Nforce4 though with SLI.
SLI would be my only consideration as not all nforce boards will support SLI.
The scalabilty is very enticing.

Doc needs a SLI nforce4 board........ who, where and when?
Give it a few months and you will see some awesome boards.

Nvidia also has hinted that Sound Storm 2 will be available on some of the new motherboards, any one have any info on this? links to it? which motherboards will include it?

Many users missed soundstorm in nforce3, better than an audigy2 (original SS had dolby, spdif in/out, uses the chipset to do all digital audio coding and not the cpu, analogue was done at codec chip)

Since Doc doesnt know much about what nforce4 has to offer besides pcie , here is some links about nforce4 systems to get your cravings going.
Includes the cool hardware firewall etc ...

That is true, and I expect the pci-e athlon64 boars, nF4 and K8T890 chipsets, to be on the pricey side. Interesting note is that the pci-e cards and agp cards on the new vga cards seem to be about the same price, ati's X600 and nVidia's 6600 series.

Hey kltsin! Thanks a whole crapload! That made for some drool inducing reading. Maybe holding off 3 months will make for a better plateau.
