Forum is close to dead these days...

Build idea looks ok, but have you compared an AMD Ryzen setup against the Intel?

And I would drop windows7, it is just old and buggy.
I have been programming on computers since the ZX81.
I am an apprentice trained Electronics Engineer with qualifications to back it up.
I have been repairing computers since 1996.
Yet to some people I still know nothing...

AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 8 core, 16 thread, socket AM4, 3.6GHz, passmark 23860 65W @ Amazon $327
Intel Core i9-9900K 3.6 GHz 8-Core Processor, socket LGS1151 3.6GHz, passmark 20192 95W @ Amazon $472

Asus Prime Z390-A ATX LGA1151 Motherboard, @ Amazon $178
Asus Prime X570-Pro Ryzen 3 AM4 ATX, 3rd party Amazon $187

Do I get the comparison right?

Everybody here use Win 7 ultimate 64 bits. Working fine.
Have Win 10 in my laptop. All the crazy upgrades practically make the unit unuseable. Unable to rely it to do work.
Do we get this all wrong?

Yes, I would go with AMD, a) Cheaper, b)Quicker and c) lower power consumption. Intel at the moment are way behind the Ryzen platform. I just built for my own giggles the cheapest Ryzen platform I could get, £170 with a 256Gb M2 SSD. Windows 10 boot to desktop from cold (using windows 10 to go) in less than 8 seconds.

Use windows 7 at work, clunky, dated, regular hiccups, regular stalls etc due to updates - horrendous. Been using windows 10 at home for a while, a vast improvement, but still crap compared to Linux (Linux has its own issues though) - been using Linux since I can remember so I am used to it.
