Hello there Forum~ I've yet again decided to upgrade my computer and thought some advice wouldn't hurt! I think the items are compatible but I'm not sure.

Old----> New

Asus asus m4a77t ----> msi z97 gaming 5, socket-1150
4GB generic ram -----> HyperX Fury ddr3 2x8gb 1866 mhz, 16GB black
AMD Athlon II X4 640 --- > Intel Core I5-4690
Xfx Radeon 6870 ----> Upgrade not needed or...?

Am I getting the most bang for my buck or should I change some of the things around?

If you checked at the MSI and the Kingston website if the memory matches the board then this should work. The only thing that might be an issue is the power supply, I hope you have something of a good brand in there. Can you share the make and model with us?

Sorry about the late reply! I've got a corsair TX650 — 80 PLUS® Certified Power Supply.

that should work in the new setup if it has been working flawless in the old setup. Good brand, decent wattage.
