Online build sites

Postby Mathwei » Mon Jun 22, 2015 5:27 pm

Long time no see! It has been a loooong time since I was last here and everyone has always been the best in information. I am wanting get a new PC and am wondering if there is a good online place to pick parts that you want and they build. Ages ago I used a site and it was fantastic, but I cannot remember the name. Any good ideas out thar?

Sites such as www.newegg.com/ have offers called "bare bones", where you can get just a case and motherboard, or an almost complete system, minus the OS. And too, those "open box specials" may be attractive.
But nothing is as satisfying as seeing your DIY build come to life.
List what you want in a system, let members pick it over and make suggestions.
But a primary rule is to build a system around your needs. Select, don't settle!
For a gaming or video creation system, higher quality components are required.
Very few companies offer high-end systems at a reasonable price.
F@H.. to solve mankind's maladies.. in our lifetimes!

The problem is that I cannot spend the time like I used to in finding what motherboard accepts what chip-set and what RAM goes with this board, what is different in board A and board B even though there is only one letter designation different, etc. I will have to make do with what information I can muddle through and get some input when I can.

You are right about the satisfaction, my first two builds over 12 years ago were shining moments! I also built a touchscreen media system a few years later when that first came out. Family and work take so much time now. Thanks!!

In that case, post the intended use for the system, your budget and brand preferences (if any). We'll fix you up with some ideas.
