We're replacing our Canon Pixma MP530 because it died. Due to the cost of replacement ink, we've decided on going with a monochrome laser printer. We need it to be an all-in-one fax/scan/copy/print with auto duplexing. And, it needs to be Ubuntu/linux compatible. Our one desktop has Ubuntu 10.04 (planning to upgrade to 12.04, just haven't gotten around to it yet), and we have a Win7 laptop and a LinuxMintKDE 13 mini-laptop.

Currently I have it narrowed down to 3 possibilities:

Oki MB451w

Canon MF4880dw

Canon MF4770n

I'm also open to other suggestions.

Should be no problem connecting any new printer.. except for the interface. Today, USB and wireless are the trend. Likely no LPT port on the printer, though. All new printers come with software and drivers to adapt to any type of OS and system. Almost all printer models will have an "emulating" mode, which will configure data format strings to the machine's needs.
But shop around for the best price. No use whacking yourself in the head, after buying one, and finding a better deal! Check reviews on the product names.. or a consumer testing outfit for ratings.
With laser printers, the cartridge should be recyclable.. not disposable. This means you can 'trade in' the old cartridge for refurbishing. Same with ink jet printers.. to a degree.
