Hello, new to computer building and would sincerely appreciate some advice! :-)

In short, buddy built my computer, motherboard (Asus M4A88T-V EVO/USB3) crapped out.. need to upgrade to a similar motherboard because I'm trying desperately not to change any other components (Due to the fact I'm not well educated in this field).

The Question: What motherboard(s) should I be looking at and ultimately buy?

**note: I'm have to upgrade cause my motherboard has been discontinued and I don't feel optimistic about buying a refurbished one selling at twice the original price..haha.

some specs: (please let me know if you need more information)

-CPU
Supports AM3 45 nm CPU
-Chipset:
AMD 880G/SB710
-DDR3 1333/1066 Hz

Thank you for taking your valuable time to help me!!

Welcome to the motherboards.org....

You may get away with swapping board out with an upgraded one and sometimes it is worth a shot.
You can still get 880 chipset boards from ASRock and Gigabyte, but also look at the 870, 890, 970 and 990 chipsets as they will suit your needs and support the AM3 cpu as well as the AM3+ CPU. Look for what you need in the board against your budget...

Thank you, Mr T.. especially for your quick reply!

I'm looking at the ASROCK 990FX Extreme3.. found it on ebay for 119.00 and the specs seem very close.

I'll wait till the end of the day for more feedback or alternate input just to be safe.. I refuse to see the blue screen of death! PDT_Armataz_01_01

that same asrock is available at newegg for that price (not sure why you'd take chances on ebay). and there's a wide variety of am3+ mobos you can get, so it depends on your budget. you are in no way short on options.
