Looking for opinions on cases

Post by Johnny Mnemonic »

I've got some amazon gift cards to use, and have found these two models (ignore the newegg prices):
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6811119137

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6811129021

Can't decide between the two, but kinda leaning towards antec. Opinions?

Cases are kind of hard to give advice on, everyone has their own likes and dislikes. If it were me, I think I'd go with the Cooler Master. But it all sort of depends on what type of components you plan on installing as well as it looks like a Nvidia 8800GTX wouldn't fit in the Cooler Master. Lots of ifs left for the end user to decide on...;)

I'd go with the Antec...

Of course there are many, many other choices - but the Antec looks better of the two you had selected.

the Antec is a very good case no doubt about it but they're not as well put together as some. I have a coolermaster stacker 832 and would reccomend it to everyone (if you've got the space!) it's a class bit of kit.

Using the Antec... Very good case, but downfall is the inverted PSU... 'cos its at the bottom of the case and the motherboard stays at its normal orientation, the cables stretch or won't reach from the PSU to the motherboard.... Other downfall is having to use long screws for the hard drives.... But all in all a good all round case and quiet to boot....

The coolermaster has a very similar build quality and layout to a 'ninja' case I used the other day (cannot remember brand, but it was a quality one)..... Easy to build into...(remember now, RAIDMAX)...

Like others have said, there are many cases out there to choose from but not all of them warrant any consideration from me.

The better cases will be made of anodized aluminum and therefore will cost more. Cases that do not come with a PSU, have a removable mobo tray, have provisions for a top fan among others, and has thumb screws that hold the panels on will get my consideration. Plastic doors are a turn off. A good fit and finish of case components are a requirement.

The above kind of weeds a lot of the others out. Cooler Master is what I use. Although very popular I wouldn't just look at newegg. Others like ZZF can at times beat neweggs prices.

Prices have come down on some of the older model quality cases.

IMO
