which linux distribution?

I realize it's usually easier to get it to run properly on older hardware, but once you get the newer stuff to work with it the rewards are worth the hassle.

Well older hardware is easier to come by, but for the reasons you mentioned above, its precisely why I will continue to recomplie kernels until I find one that works... :P

And that is why I too will continue to recompile things until I get it right. Besides, once you recompile the kernel 20 times, well after that it's easy 8O Like second nature, you know?
