uh what brand is the memory? I would recommend upgrading to a minimum of 256MB of crucial or Corsair memory.... It sounds like your system is straining to play the large music files, and you dont have suffient RAM to have the system work properly...

Anybody have an alternative to Quicktime, MS Media Player, and RealPlayer? I hate them all with a bloody passion because they all want to fight for registered filename extensions.

Media Player always has codec problems, of which DivX doesn't always do the trick.
Quicktime, is by Apple.
Real Player wants me to registered ever day, or join it's radio and broadcast channels.
