Windows XP Home or XP Pro????

Postby blkbird » Thu Sep 26, 2002 7:57 pm

I am wanting to buy a copy of XP for my computer but can't decide which is the better choice Home or Pro?

What is the pro's and con's of the two versions if any?

Would the average user be able to tell a diference in the two?

There is not that much price difference at newegg
$90.00 (home) and $139.00(pro) so either is in my budget but if there's very little difference I would like to save the $50.00 for a new CPU cooler.

Which would the users of this forum advise me to buy??

XP better for games
2K is better for networking.

Overall stability is about the same.

XP HOME is not as good for networking as XP Pro is.

Exact same for gaming. Only difference is that XP Pro has more tools.

Here is a list of what Pro has that Home doesnt. If you dont feel you need anything on this list, then get Home.

I personally have worked with Xp Home and hated it was to buggy for me. I was like you cash flow is limited, so saved money and bought Xp Pro and love it, no problems its been since June of this year.
Good Luck.
p.s I gave my Xp Home to the first person who wanted it for free. :)
