At this point, I would remove that SB Live! audio card, restart and see if that "PCI input device" is still listed.
If so, then something else is creating the problem.

When I pull the SBL card the yellow! warning is no longer there. The PCI Input Device and the Mulitmedia Audio Controller under Other devices are gone. I guess I need a different audio card maybe? Still can't get windows to update. I updated IE to 11 and got some other updates, but still no go. :?

I contacted creative labs on the audio card and was told it does not support win7 x64 ... I ordered a new card got a good price on it http://www.ebay.com/itm/252506279566?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT The manufacture wanted $15 plus $14 to ship it!!! Outrageous!! :x

Looks like window 7 not updating is a common problem when I do a search on the matter. I'll leave it be for now ... perhaps in the future it will start updating on its own.

Hope the new card works for you. A few posts back, I noted "Creative Labs classifies that model as "end of service life". Reading the fine print in that, could be 'abandoned'.", so maybe Win Vista was the last fully compatible OS to that model.
A real shame that older but still good device cards are no longer useful with newer OS versions. But still great with other OS types, such as Linux. If you know it was working well before, maybe you can recoup some expense by listing it for sale.
Don't be too upset about that shipping price, very few eBay sellers inflate the shipping costs. Bad business!

As to Win 7 updates, go to the MS update site and check. If a problem with updates not installing, maybe a quick fix.. and you will get a bucket load of updates!

Okay ... this is what I did address the updating issue. I used mini tool 9.1 CD to format the drive. Then I did a clean install of Win7. After activating windows I told it to ask me later about the update settings. While off line I installed KB3083710 that I saved to my slave hard drive. Did the reset as requested by the software. Then I installed KB3102810, and also did the reboot. I connected to the internet and I asked windows to check for updates, but got the same green moving through the bar with nothing happening. I opened IE and when it ask me to update I told it to do so. After that was installed I went to windows update and there were 174 updates ... after those were downloaded and installed, 12 more update came through.

Problem Solved ... for updating windows ... :D

One problem solved. The rest of the setup working good?

Someday, maybe beyond our times, Windows will not need more patches than a patchwork quilt!
