Windows Explorer has stopped working

Postby Norman Castle » Sun Jul 17, 2016 4:00 pm

Problem - as soon as I boot up my computer I get this message. I have maybe 1 second to click on my Start menu before it pops up.

If I click to restart the program the message comes back instantly.

I managed to run my antivirus. Nothing detected.

I've installed a separate copy of Vista on another partition, and can boot that up. That works fine. It's not a hardware problem.

Any suggestions?

Windows Explorer is embedded in the OS, and is a vital part of its function. Possibly a corrupt file, or an associate file in the Dynamic Link Library (*.dll). Maybe running the SFC process will clear the issue.
MS does have a "malicious software removal tool" as KB890830 that is updated monthly, and free. ... tails.aspx
