PCmover Professional automatically moves all the programs, files and settings you select from your old PC to your new one and all of your applications will be installed automatically ready to use.

PCmover is the easiest way to move into a new PC without leaving anything behind and works with almost any version of Windows. You can even use PCmover to transfer your PC to an Intel-based Mac using VMware Fusion, Parallels or Bootcamp.

I've yet to see a software solution move and install applications. If this actually works it'll be a miracle in my mind.

Laplink is an old and trusted brand. Today, LAN or USB connections are preferred.. but some years ago, a serial port transfer cable or parallel port transfer cable was used.
For my needs, I prefer Acronis Migrate Easy.
The minimum system requirements for Windows 7 or later are not significantly different.. but the system must have a minimal 1 GB of memory, the CPU running at 1 GHz minimal, and the video must be compliant with Direct X 9.
A lot of older computers will be heading to the recycle chopping block!

The ONE review I saw said Laplink "Hosed my Windows 7 install". Since I have to do a fresh install anyway, it may be worth a try. Windows 7 and Laplink from Newegg for $122 shipped ain't bad.

Both ordered....
I'll let you know as soon as I "Git 'er Done", probably in a week or so.

I'll keep notes, so if I run into issues, my mistakes won't be yours.....

*Update* Install/transfer went ok, but had my spare (empty) hard drive fail, mucking up OS on the good drive, with errors on my part also. Thank goodness I made an image beforehand.

More later

As long as you know what went wrong and you have something to fall back on...
