I have read the label on the last ISA slot on my motherboard and it says its a ABIT BH6 V1,2.

Problem is theres are only updates for 1.0 and 1.1 on the websites i have been through.

Could you tell me wich update i should be using and where to find it?

Thanks in advance

Seb

What machine did this come out of? Was it an OEM machine?

OEM boards are seldom supported by the board maker. Most BIOS and driver updates are gotten from the System builder i.e. Gateway, Compaq etc. Who made your system?

My pc was built by a small local shop.

I called them about what bios upgrade to use and they said to use the v1,1 but to call Abit to confirm.

I did and the Abit tech said the same thing so i flashed my bios using the v1,1 and it worked. :).

The tech from abit told me to look at the 2 last figures on the last line of the pc screen when the pc counts the memory to confirm what type of bios i allready had. From that it implied i used the v1,1 bios "drivers".

I had done some reasearch on my own to determine (using the whole line) to confirm the board manufacturer and chip set. That was consistent with the BH6 label but i was afraid of the version beeing 1,2 and i couldnt find it anywhere.

Was I lucky? Does the V1,2 even exist?

Not to sure about a 1.2 version but there are BH6 version 1.02 boards.

There are two distinct bios updates for the Abit BH6, one for boards version 1.1 only and another for boards below version 1.1 (ie 1.01 & 1.02).

The version number of the board is marked on a sticker on the outer edge of the last ISA slot, use a small mirror to see the sticker if the board is installed in a case.

The other way of finding which of the two bios versions you have is to look at the last two characters (bios ID) of your bois string and search for those characters on either of these two pages.

For Rev. 1.1 boards ONLY:-

http://www.abit-usa.com/download_content6b3d.html?pTITLE=BH6+V1.1&#Bios

All other revisions (ie 1.01 & 1.02):-

http://www.abit-usa.com/download_content9c19.html?pTITLE=BH6&#Bios

You should use the latest bios update from the page that you find your bios ID on.
