Is there a RELIABLE application in existence that will scan my system and provide BIOS and other driver updates?

For BIOS most of the manufacturers provide utilities in the MOBO CD/DVD for online BIOS Upgrade even inside windows, to much risky for me.

For Drivers there are some generic free driver updaters like Device Doctor, Driver Scanner, Driver Easy (Online Scan) I can´t tell U how reliable they are because I go the manual way always

Intel has his Intel® Driver Update Utility if U r looking for driver updates to the rig in your sign

take a look at:

Windows XP is basically an "orphan" now. Some newer drivers may be available, but best to check using the original program source or Microsoft Updates page. Here are some hints as to checking for updates for drivers and such, Win XP and newer.. http://pcsupport.about.com/od/driverssu ... update.htm
For BIOS updates, check the motherboard's main support site.
Beware of any pop-up ads that note your anti-virus or browser is out of date, or offer any free programs! Could be a malware bait.

Karl, MS can't even get an OS right the first time... How on earth are they even an option for "reliability" when hunting for drivers...

IMHO, no. If there was I would not be supporting that many people installing/upgrading their systems (even the branded ones).

The only reason I noted the "Microsoft Updates page" is that they may be the first to have a modified driver version that is more compatible than the original provider's version.
Indeed, MS has had several "oopsies" with OS issues. Wonder how long it will be, until a service pack for Win 10?
