Welcome to Motherboards.org.
Why go back to an older, original BIOS version? You may loose the larger hard disk capacity and newer CPU version types.
Did check a master list for older BIOS versions for your ID string. Nothing exact found for your string, but close.. http://www.elhvb.com/mboards/a-trend/bios/index.html
Exact string version not found here either.. https://www.wimsbios.com/forum/other-bi ... 14203.html

Sometimes one fix might break something else that is more important than what was broken in the first place. I think of having this board inside a CNC machine for instance and the custom-written software stops running just because the IRQ table was redone and there's no PnP in some of that software, I'll tell you.

So, I am off for the hunt to the original bog-standard bios... Wish me luck, it's almost 20 years old...

Oh, I see my challenge just doubled, there's two different bioses with the same ID string.

" On the top left of the Start screen (with memory test + HDD detection) below the Award Bios logo, what message is shown there?

A PT-2000 should have a combination of numbers with C or KC, PT-2003 with either E, I, DE or DI.
-> E/I could be either revision specific or for different types of Flashroms"

so far:

PT-2000: 29 feb 1996 rev 3.06C800
PT-2003: 13 sep 1996 rev 3.06E800

I don't have a DOS/windows box handy here so you will have to wait for the actual bios ID strings for a bit...
