Hi all :)

I've been hearing some negative things people are finding with the Asus BIOS, what exactly are these problems people are finding? If the problems are just personal issues then that's fine, however if they're issues that could affect the use of the system or tweaking with the system etc. then it would probably be a good idea to be aware of them.

If anyone can shed any light on this it would be great :D

Thanks

What problems are you hearing? Kinda hard to say without some examples. Sometimes it's an issue where the complain stems from a lack of reading instructions and missing a submenu with the settings wanted, and sometimes its an issue of an enthusiast wanting to overclock as far as he/she can, but buying a budget, mATX board that doesn't have the options to do that. It's actually quite rare to see an actual BIOS issue that can be tracked back to the chip itself...........

Unfortunately I can't give any specific examples as it's basically something I heard on the grape vine :P The examples you have put forward though are the most probable issues people have had. I was just concerned there might be some, well known issue that had been occuring recently, but if not, I've nothing to really worry about :D

Thanks for that

Ah, yeah. I love the internet, but there's an awful lot of misinformation out there, and people to spread that love around without actually checking things for themselves.

@F&F: You left one out: flashing the bios from a retail board on an OEM version of the board (such as found in Sony/Packard Bell/Gateway whatever branded box) and being surprised or angry it does not work...
