Simple Utility to Flash Bios Chip though the Parallel Port

Postby miki02131 » Fri Oct 16, 2009 3:48 pm

All,

Any utility and circuit available to program a bios chip through the parallel port? Any suggestion will be appreciated? If none is available, I will develop this capability myself and keep you posted.

You mean you're going to connect a PCB to the parallel port of a working computer and put the bios chip in a socket after some circuit?

I think I have an external programmer for a serial port here, that's what was usually used for those back in the days. Not sure if I can find the circuit layout and the software to go with it though. Must be somewhere in the archive (my attick).

You may want to future-proof your stuff and design one for USB.
